They say time is an illusion, to me, time is that very big deal that I cannot touch but keep. Somehow seems to matter the most. I just have to master it!
What is time?
“Time slips through our hands like grains of sand, never to return again. Those who use time wisely are rewarded with rich, productive and satisfying lives.” Robin Sharma
Understanding time and gaining true mastery of it will go a really long way in defining your life. Imagine that from the moment you were born, you understood the real aspects of time, and you could account for every minute of your life. That would be really powerful right? Successful people understand the fact that time management is very important, that is why they hardly start a day without a definite plan. Everything is on schedule. Let’s say you go to see the managing director of a top firm, the first thing you would be asked is if you have an appointment to see him. There’s a schedule that has to be stuck to daily.
In this article, I will be explaining the concept of time, how to conquer it to get a fulfilled life. Before we proceed, I just want you to know that time management is a skill, and like every other skill it can be learnt. All you have to do is keep an open mind and set your heart to it.
Life is all about the choices we make
Every day, we’re faced with different choices, and what we choose eventually determines the outcome of our lives. From this day forward, it will make a lot of difference in your life if you deliberately decide to make wiser choices every day. Another thing to consider are consequences, whatsoever you decide to do with your time, there are consequences. Keep this in your mind as it would help you in your decision making process. If you weighed the consequence of your actions before actually carrying them out you would obviously make better choices.
Let’s begin with a list
Time management and goal setting goes hand in hand. First you need to make a list of everything you want to do and rank them in order of priority with the most important being on top of the list. This way, you spend your time on important activities and get them sorted out in time

Plan your day in advance
I do not mean to annoy you but it is wrong to start a day without a plan, you need to have your days plan written down somewhere. Learn to do this before the start of a new day, that way you’ll be more organised with your time. You need to dedicate a particular time of the day to plan for the next. I prefer to do mine in the evening before I go to bed or very early in the morning. Whatever works for you is cool, as long as you plan in advance.

Practice creative procrastination
The fact that you are doing something now means that you are not doing something else, simply put whatever you are procrastinating on another task. Hence the art of creative procrastination is very necessary. You need to know the difference between things that are urgent, and things that are important. Urgent tasks are tasks that are “in your face.” They are determined by external pressures. They are things that you must do immediately. Some are telephone calls, responding to messages etc. Important tasks on the other hand are those tasks that can contribute the very most to your long-term future. Some of these tasks may be planning your day in advance, organizing, studying, and setting priorities before you begin. Learning to do important tasks before urgent ones get in the way, is managing your time.
Choose to do the most valuable tasks every day, watch for the results too. Remember, time management is a skill that can be learnt.
Till next time,
